Past Event - Summer Solstice Supper

Ye olde Earth is turning on its axis and we find ourselves once more at the precipice of summer. The Summer Solstice celebrates the longest day and the shortest night. Flowers are in bloom, herbs are ripe for the picking and a season of hard work and harvesting is on its way. But before all that hard work, the solstice gives us a chance to kick up our heels and make merry on the day that the sun lingers around the longest. Celebrate with us, at our Summer Solstice Supper!

We will be hosting an outdoor supper for just 20 people on the 21st June at Purple Patch. There will be three courses of seasonal vegan food interspersed with some group rituals to celebrate the longest day. The meal will be served outside if the weather is good (with some sheep for company) or undercover if the weather is looking bad.

We are really excited to be hosting this at Purple Patch - a market garden located in the beautiful, green valley of Boiling Wells Lane. Purple Patch is part of Watercress Farm, a smallholding which has been under cultivation since medieval times. It was started by Mary Conway and her family, who passed the baton over to Alex Goodman at the end of Summer 2021. Alex is now running the project along the same regenerative principles.  They supply salad to local restaurants alongside growing and selling flowers and veg boxes.

Access Statement

The event is happening on a working farm that is only accessible by bike or foot. You can drive to a place close by and walk for 10 mins to the farm. There is a paved path all the way to the farm, but we will walk off road over uneven ground to get to the final location where we’ll eat. There is a compost toilet on site that is a short walk from where we will be seated. Please contact us if you have any queries.
